Lin Beifong (The Legend of Korra)
Worn For: Dragon*Con 2013 (Sunday)
Lin Beifong is undoubtedly one of my favorite characters in The Legend of Korra, and I adore cosplaying her. Sadly, my standard armor cosplay is very difficult to travel and I cannot say I trust any airlines or mail carriers not to damage it. With Dragon*Con 2013 looming, I found myself sad that I couldn't bring my Lin cosplay and circling listlessly around a free day as I debated risking it. Then Stuff by Shelling surprised me with a Lin cosplay that is incredibly easy to transport: her military jacket from the final episode of Book One, "Endgame". Though she is only seen wearing this coat for a few moments, those moments are important, and I was so thrilled to be able to bring Lin to Dragon*Con, and to have the option to bring her to other cons I'm not driving to in the future.
Being recognized out of armor was hit or miss, but some of the reactions from people who did know who I was were priceless and made me smile a lot (so much so that my scar make-up started to peel by the end of the day-- oops!)
Lin Beifong, you guys. Still my hero.
