Mercury (X-Men)
Worn For: New York Comic Con 2011 (Saturday)
Cessily Kincaid, also known as Mercury, is one of my favorite X-Men characters. One of the first comic series I ever sat down and read was the "New Mutants: Childhood's End" arc, and to this day it is one of my favorites. The trades sit on my shelf and are very well loved. <3 While reading I felt immediately connected to Cessily, and pretty much adored her and her story. A few years went by and when I started to cosplay I though it would be fun to go as her, though I was not sure exactly how I would pull it off. Still, I decided on her outfit from the cover of New X-Men: The Quest For Magik #38, bought pieces, and planned for "one day". Well, "one day" got serious when my friend Jessica Jolt and I started planning for New York Comic Con 2011: we were going to do New Mutants together, with me as Mercury and her as Darkchylde. Later we also got the awesome addition of our friend Michele Zu-Zul as X-23! :D
Jess helped me fix up the top I bought to make it look right, lent me a wig she had, and airbrushed me silver. NYCC was a learning experience though; the paint we got ended up being very flaky and eventually had to be washed off because it was just a pain. So! For the future we will find a different kind of paint! :D Oh, we also learned that cabs will not pick up silver people. XD
I would love to wear this costume again, and hope I get the chance to. I love Mercury!
